"They're served in a box," she came back, just as quickly. "I could make you Chinese food and serve it in a box, too - if you wanted. And it would taste better, anyway." Giving him a quick smile and a wink, she considered the donuts. "I can make donuts, too, but the excessive lard probably gives them an edge of flavor."
It had taken Pepper a couple months to get used to working in a house - essentially her office - otherwise staffed by artificial intelligence. But just as she'd adjusted to Tony's needs, his quirks, and slowly come to see him as a friend, JARVIS, Dummy, and Butterfingers had likewise become co-workers, friends, and even family.
Her hand tightened at his waist, a finger curling through one of his belt loops as she stiffened in surprise at the word 'ours', and Pepper had a brief flash of something that looked like.... She pressed her lips to his again, trying to either kiss away the mirage of longevity, or else drown herself in the oasis. "I bet not many of them have a turkey with a taste for champagne," she pointed out breathlessly.
She was glad for the change of subject, eager to get onto more stable footing where she didn't have to think too hard about difficult things. Like the future. "Active?" she grinned. Pepper strummed her fingers across the guitar on his shirt to see if it would work. "Will that be another tradition?" Trying not to wince at her slip as she leaned in to kiss his throat, she tried for distraction. "Let me ask you something: in the last couple of months, have I done anything that would lead you to believe that I'd turn you down?"
