Tony was always surprised when Reed proved that he'd done much better at speaking in public since MIT; sure, you had to accept that he was going to be long-winded, and verbose, but at least he was speaking. Tony wondered if he was stretching his lungs to get more out between each breath.
As far as he was concerned, considering Luthor as a potential threat to world security was only reasonable, and part of why this group had been formed: they wanted to mold a better world, but part of that meant recognizing what forces were in play in the world, and therefore if and how they needed things to change to get the result they wanted. It was a little like chemistry: determine what the unknowns were making a reaction, forecast the result, and add something else to negate or increase the reaction.
For once, he let the others speak first: Reed had a civilizing influence on them all, and besides, they were eager to jump in. "I can't believe these words are coming out of my mouth, but...Doom's right," he said just a little reluctantly.
"He is legitimately elected," he acknowledged with a nod to T'Challa, "But that doesn't mean that what he's going to be doing is in the best interest of the world, long-term. I'm not worried about what he's done in the past: I'm interested in the future. If he were here, we could ask him his intentions straight out. He's not, so we speculate and come up with plans and contingency plans to mitigate the damage.
"Or take advantage of things he's doing and make them better," he added with a shrug. Luthor was a patent-stealing snake, but if he did good for the world, well, that was what they were intending with this group.
