In fairness, Dinah'd had far worse injuries than black eyes. The intention of sparring though, was never serious injury-- and while she wouldn't have minded too much (outside of the initial pain and relentless teasing for months to come), her neighbors and random strangers would probably start asking too many questions. And the 'some boxes dropped out of the closet' excuse really wouldn't do her too many favors in that instance.
Welp. She'd certain gotten his attention with that kick, given from the fact that he had both hands around her ankle and there was really no where to go from here except down. She managed to get her hands out in front of her before she hit the mat to keep from bashing her face on the floor. She moved as soon as she hit the ground though to keep Danny from getting on top of her. She pulled her held leg back towards her body, trying to get him to release it, though she was already attacking with the other foot, kicking at his shoulder... or at least where she figured his shoulder to be-- it could easily have hit his upper arm, chest, or back instead... but she was fair certain she wasn't going to kick him in the face. Probably.
