For Danny, this was natural, and had been a large part of his training. The Thunderer wanted him to be able to anticipate the attacks of an opponent as they happened, whether he could see them coming or not, and had taken pains (that Danny still felt, when thinking back upon his instruction) to make sure that Danny could do just that. And since then his sense of his surroundings had grown, to the point at which he could hear Dinah so well that it was almost like a sixth sense.
Which was probably something he should have told her at the outset, but it was too late for that now.
Her sweep would not have quite connected with him anyway, but he leapt forward regardless, curling his knees to his chest as he flipped over Dinah. In midair he reached to try to tap at her shoulder, before landing in a crouch a few feet behind her.
"That was close", he said, purposefully exposing himself.
