He was infamous for his blunt refusal of any offers of help from others - especially outsiders to his beloved Gotham - and though he would not say thank you, the shadow of a smile appeared as he nodded in acceptance. "There's a lot of work to be done here," he said. "Things are bad elsewhere, too, but it seems that Gotham always attracts the lion's share."
Cocking an eyebrow, Batman scanned the city again. There were others at work; none visible, but he knew they were out there, the guardian angels of a city who needed them terribly. Gotham was his city - his responsibility - but with Diana just returned and something to tell him, he could spare some time.
"My penthouse," he said. "Atop the Wayne Foundation Building. You can come with me, or I can meet you there."
