He had actually been on the verge of answering her question concerning his marriage when she halted him. It was not something he really wanted to discuss at length, especially on a first date, but at the same time he wanted the clear the air as much as he could after his first fiasco with her. At the same time though he was not entirely disappointed when she freed him from the obligation before he could say a single word in reply.
It was quite clear that this was new for her, and it was for him as well. Even more so. For all of his lives he had sought, longed for, and desired only one woman. And while he still loved her as he always would, he had come to the realization lately that she was likely lost to him in this life. They were reunited in new bodies and new lives throughout the historical record, but as of now it remained that she had died and he yet lived. As far as he knew, that would mean that she would not be resurrected until the time of his death, and though it felt a little off being here with someone else, he knew she would not want him to be lonesome the rest of his days as Carter Hall.
Which all amounted to a whole lot of things he was nowhere near ready to share with Dinah, which made his not having to go into detail beneficial to the rest of their date. And when she began talking about herself to 'settle the score', it made things all the easier. He just leaned back in his chair to listen.
"I do not mind listening to you at all", he said closing a hand over his glass. "Because really, that information has been quite helpful in helping me to determine that you are not some kind of psycho killer." He grinned.
"The weakness for cup cakes, just so you know, is what convinced me of your innocence in that regard."
