"Did you?" She asked when he filled her in about the story in the paper and didn't even bother trying to pretend that she wasn't grinning.
"Honestly. I guess people will wear anything out of the house these days." She said, feigning a few glances at the drink menu, though she cast him a glance over the top of it, a smile in her eyes if not on her mouth.
"Wine is fine. Red would be great but white is fine too." Really, when it came to wine, she didn't have much of a preference and would let someone else order for her. Beers she was more picky about, if only because there were more that she didn't like.
She waited until their drink order was place before leaning forward and dropping her voice to a whisper, "Okay, I have to ask." Because Hal had made a deal out of it, the jerk, "You and my mom didn't like... have a thing or anything, right?" Because that would be a deal breaker, no matter how nice and non-homicidal he was.
