Ted, Midnighter, and Open
That was a positive notch in Ted's book. The way his face lit up and he relaxed a little at the mention of Tora. Subtle body movements told Midnighter a lot. He might have actually smiled at this point. Sorry Ted.
That was before Barbara showed up and he turned to look at her. The way he talked with him was familiar, but the way she touched him was more familiar. The obvious comfort between them spoke volumes. It was easy to read it one way or another. Midnighter observed them curiously before he was addressed. He'd subtly took in her appearance. Attractive female in very little. Perhaps appearances, but that wouldn't make sense considering Apollo and Midnighter already knew, which means everyone on the ship probably knew already. A beard was unnecessary.
He wanted to press his lips into a thin line, but instead smiled back a slightly different smile than the one he'd afforded Ted just moments before. Apollo would be so disappointed. "Midnighter," he said in response. "How long have you two been together?" That felt a lot safer than asking if they were together or if Mike and Ted were sharing her. Usually his questions hit like the blunt end of a hammer, but this was a party.
