Who: Raven and Zatanna, and anyone else in New York costume shopping. When: Oct. 18, 2012 Where: New York City costume store! What: Mask shopping bumpings! Rating: PG
Raven looked at the wall blankly. It was a dizzying kaleidoscope of color. Faces bedecked in feathers, ribbons, flowers, and jewels stared down at her. Some were smooth, beautiful porcelain with only a few graceful marks. Some had long sinister noses or sharp, demonic scowls. Many were pretty and poetically sad or gently happy. Others were raucous, loud in their silent, manner, with mocking mouths, sneers or angry slant of brow.
"As you can see, we have the best selection around! Something black or purple to go with your cloak, perhaps? Oh! Excuse me." The shop clerk was cheerfully pulled away by another customer asking after 300 costumes, and Raven was left to stare up at the wall once more.
She'd never been to a masquerade. She felt timid at the thought of it, wanting to withdraw, but... She touched the long peacock feathers of a mask. Beautiful. But loud. She looked around for some guidance.
"Excuse me..." Her breathy voice was quiet, but still audible as she looked to another dark-haired woman. "What type of mask is suitable for a Masquerade? They're all so... different."
