He arched a brow, not at what she said, but what she did not say about her voice. Clearly there was something more there, but he chose not to pry. If all went well and she did not end up trying to beat the tar out of him he imagined he would find out eventually.
The truth of the matter was that Carter was not looking for much of anything, outside of seeing and experiencing her martial prowess as well as he could within their present surroundings. Though given the way that he began to look at her as she struck at his palm, it was clear he was enjoying it. And that, in his own way, he thought of it as a means of flirting between fellow warriors. Right, right, right, feint, and then a left. He sort of tilted his head to look at her side long as he reacted with a full smile. "You're too good to have been trained by Ted alone."
Nothing in his face changed, but when she jabbed at him again he closed his hand around her fist, being mindful not to push her wrist back or use too tight of a grip in the process. As questions likely formed in her mind, he gave her arm a gentle tug toward him.
