He asked about her martial arts knowledge. Because he said he noticed how she moved.
Dinah had been to many places to study under many masters. She had fought many foes, both the trained and untrained alike. There were only certain people who noticed how a person moved and connected it to martial arts-- and those were other martial artists. Masters, usually, or at very least people who had been exposed to them for a very long time.
Oh Lord, what exactly had she gotten herself into this time?
One eyebrow arched with amuses suspicion, her smile never betraying the thought process churning through every previous bit of conversation, looking for clues as to who exactly this nice professor was.
"Ah, I'm impressed." She said, flashing him a pleasantly surprised grin. "I grew up on American Boxing. My uncle was a Heavyweight Champ in his day, and I still put in a couple hours over at his gym on occasion. A while I got into some amateur MMA fighting and I'm afraid it stuck." She answered, mostly honestly. Technically, she did practiced mixed martial arts-- just not in a ring for a prize or a title. Everything else was 100% true.
"Quid pro quo, Mr. Carter." She said, a flirtatious lilt in her voice, "I've never had anyone ask me about the way I move who doesn't practice some kind of martial art themselves-- what's your specialty?" While her tone was cheerful and sprightly, her eyes were focused and alert, not at all dulled by alcohol. They remained trained on his face and watching every facial expression.
