"That depends on the site in question, though in general I look for signs of civilization great and small. Tools, trinkets, and yes, pottery as well. Essentially any and everything that can help me to put together a picture of what a society might have looked like. In a lot of ways, the work is not unlike putting together a puzzle." He appreciated what he thought was genuine interest.
