Cassandra had been given the invitation by Alfred, who helped her read through it and understand what it meant. She found her own name quickly, and with slightly more difficulty she found Tim's, Dick's, and Barbara's names. She wondered where Alfred's name was, but he explained that he would be there as the staff, the way he always was at these events. That relieved her.
This would be awesome. She liked parties, especially the food and dancing. She'd even gotten somewhat used to large gala events where everyone was talking and moving and asking her things.
Alfred pointed out to her that Doug Ramsey was one of the names on the list; he'd known about her relationship with him, and he'd lent a patient ear to her ongoing frustrations about the troubles they were having. He suggested that maybe that would be a way for the two of them to reconnect. The thought both thrilled and terrified her. He seemed so mad at her lately, and she was so frustrated with him. Showing him the invitation, she pointed at her name, at Doug's, and at the line of text which Alfred had told her meant 'masks come off'. Then, with questioning body language, she pointed over at her Batgirl costume.
