Re: Victor von Doom
For a few, long seconds the hail went unanswered, then a piece of the sky ahead of them rippled, something dark gray and green coming into view. The robot looked a little like a beetle crossed with a jelly fish, about the size of a backpack, its many instruments hanging below as its black lenses peered at them. It hovered nearly touching the hood of the Fantasticar.
The robot uttered some words, Latverian language as a laser array scanned over them. Then in English it stated: "Identity analysis complete. Identified: Reed Richards and Tony Stark, citizens of the United States. Stand by for instruction."
It was only a few moments before a voice came from the car's communicator. It was hard to place what sort of mood Doom was in, the metallic tone not as full of disgust or surly as Reed was often used to. Nor was it friendly. "Mr. Richards. It is not often that you come to my doorstep, and as far as I'm aware, I have none of your acquaintences within my borders." The robot scanned over the car again, leaning to one side. "You were also kind enough to knock for once. So I will trust that you have something worth disturbing me."
The robot's mechanical voice sounded. "Follow." It stated, turning and heading over the border smoothly.
Several areas of the sky rippled now, as though heat waves were disturbing the scenery. Things were moving slowly to the side. It wasn't until they looked back that they would see the hovering droids, clear as day on their uncamouflaged side. They were much bigger than the droid they followed, though thin and tall. They pattered wide ranges of the border and traced the sky. Doom had updated his country's security since Reed had last been there.
