It could have gone worse, Tony figured. If nothing else, he and Reed were bringing the problems to the attention of powerful men, and even if they didn't really work together in the Illuminati, at last all of them would be looking and thinking and working on their own. It wouldn't be as effective, but at least no one would be surprised if the world ended by mundane causes rather than a galactic entity paving the Earth over for a super highway.
And even if their warnings were brushed aside, it was a road trip with Reed; they were also long overdue for a Science Sleepover. Which meant takeout. There was something about unpretentious burgers and fries that made him happier than being at a place with fancy linen and caviar.
He indulged in fries as he tried to figure the mechanics of unhinging his jaw to eat the burger. "How's your work on your Zero-Point Energy?" he asked.
