It had taken weeks for the physical damage to heal. With each passing day the lacerations fused together and before long he was able to get the sutures removed at a clinic. The nurse clucked her tongue in disapproval at the hasty job. Fortunately Vic was able to placate her with a simple grunt of "Med student." The disapproving tone turned to a chuckle and she muttered on about falling standards in health care for the rest of the procedure. With a fresh bandage applied to the wound, Vic stepped out into the cloying midday weather. With a scowl he turned and set off down the street, hands stuffed in his pockets.
A month. That was how long it had been since The Question had made an appearance. Granted, the faceless persona was used to further his own investigations and with out the ability to stand and walk properly, those investigations had been put on hold. Now, things could return to normal. Or as normal as they ever were. For a while Victor just allowed his feet to carry him through the city. With no real destination in mind, the investigative reporter soon found himself standing at the edge of Centennial Park. Everywhere he looked there was activity as people moved about enjoying the afternoon sun. His eyes followed several people jogging about the park's pathways and he remembered how much he enjoyed his morning runs through the mountains.
Glancing down at himself, Vic realized he was ill suited for a jog. A plain white t-shirt and jeans (it was too hot to wear a suit) was not the best attire for this but.. he'd been cooped up too long. It was time to do something. So Vic proceeded through the stretches he performed before every run and blocked out the strange glances he received. Once he was ready he set off at a nice clip and let the physical activity blank out his thoughts.
