Koriand'r had come back home from an exhausting mission off planet to find that, in her absence, the world had been sent into turmoil by one belligerent customer known as Mojo. Seeing as the rest of the world's heroes handled it in her absence and that the Earth seemed to be more or less as she had left it, she decided it was just as well that she'd missed that piece of action. The people she had been helping sadly did not have a multitude of superpowered heroes to save their collective hides, so she had clearly been more needed there than here.
That seemed to be a running theme in her life, lately. More and more Kory found herself drifting, like she didn't belong here anymore. Not that she ever had, not really. But at least she had felt for years like she had a home here, and friends. But her friends too had drifted apart, just like she had. Even Dick had moved on, and she had at one point thought she might spend the rest of her life with him. She hardly saw anyone outside of work, and her model friends and housemates. They were fun and all, but she didn't share with them that sense of family that risking one's life for a teammate builds. She missed that. Koriand'r was, after all, the exiled princess of a warrior race. Earth people constantly forgot that. They rarely got past her exotic good looks, or they got hung up with the fact that she had no use for the backwards, restrictive standards of human morality when it came to what she did with her own body or who she shared it with.
And so, Kory was restless. She was looking for alternatives, looking for new things and new options. Subconsciously, she was looking for excuses to stay on Earth. Her discontent may have been growing over the last few years, but she still loved her chosen home. She just missed feeling needed, feeling like she had a purpose. With her power levels, it seemed wasteful and almost irresponsible to simply be and stop minor robberies and petty crimes just to avoid boredom in between the big crises. She felt like her talents were not being put to good use.
So her subconscious, more than any kind of conscious agenda, had brought her to Providence. She had been hearing about it, and finally decided it was time to check it out for herself. She did not try to be stealthy as she approached the island, in uniform, her bright auburn hair leaving a fiery trail behind her. She'd had no idea how to contact the powers that be, since she wasn't currently affiliated with any official teams to have that kind of access, but she had heard that a man called Cable was in charge. She landed and looked for the first official looking people she could find, and asked to be directed to Cable.
