The finances. Of course. That would be reason enough to be a little perturbed by his absence, but it was not until this unfortunate moment that he realized she had had to give up her own place in order to keep this one. It was not entirely his fault, as she could have just as easily kept her own, and he suspected she had a bit of an ulterior motive in her decision. But he was not yet ready to dicuss all the complexities of his new role within the Corps yet. Yeah, he could see why she thought sending a message would have been more than prudent, but without her having a power ring of her own, it was a little difficult to send word of anything across the universe. In addition to that difficulty then came the fact that he had not exactly been in the right frame of mind, or had much in the way of free time to even consider such an endeavor as he had found himself embroiled in some pretty intense battles and conflicts.
It was not something he had to explain or dodge though, as she took his bait to tease him right back, causing him to smile a bit.
Folding his arms across his chest, he leaned back against the counter top and just grinned.
"Of course I know what a hot prospect you are. Part of being in the Honor Guard also means that I can go anywhere, and work with anyone." Straightening slightly, he reached across to lightly prod her abdomen with his pointer finger.
"And out of everyone in the universe I chose to be here, with you."
As that settled, he quickly added, "And let's face it, you're much hotter than Guy."
