Who: Cable and Emma
Where: the island of Providence, South Pacific Ocean
When: 9/27/12
What: Emma comes to check out Cable and see what's the what.
"Huh."
A. Friend. Of his father's. Of a sort. Although right now she was working for SHIELD. And she was coming to visit - to assess, really - and see just who he was and what he was up to. That would be fine; Providence had nothing to hide, neither from SHIELD, nor anyone else, although Cable himself had a few things he would prefer keeping private. Emma was a powerful telepath, one of the strongest on the planet, and while she might be able to sense that there were things about him she was unable to read, she wouldn't get further than that.
Sending a message to his Chief of Staff, Irene Merryweather, and his Chief of Security, Johann Kriek, letting them know about the guest soon to be arriving, Cable changed and went to meet her personally. Assembled from the sections of his former space station Graymalkin - from thousands of years in the future - the entire island was a masterpiece of advanced futuristic technology, floating high above the South Pacific ocean. Shining silver panels and spires caught the sun, broken only by a layer of vegetation draped over the top level. The rooms were spacious, but as they conformed to suit the needs of the users, that was only reasonable.
Personal quarters were considered private, but there was no area strictly off limits on the Island. Everyone living there had been giving a psychological and physical evaluation, as well as a skills test, and each contributed to the well-being and upkeep of their living situation accordingly. Artists were invited to help beautify the walls; gardeners, the landscape. chores and other labor was done in shifts, shared equally. Meals were prepared by the island's technology, increasingly from food grown on the island, and could be shared in the dining hall, or elsewhere. Movies were offered nightly, along with a variety of other activities, and most importantly - discussions could be found around the clock, in any number of locations, on the subject of how to build a better future.
Cable rarely engaged in any of this, just watched, taking everything in and hoping it would help. He was a figure of mystery to those who lived on his island, and his rare appearances were always met with curiosity. As he arrived at the teleportation matrix and waited patiently, Cable ignored the whispers that tickled in his head as the word passed that he was out again today - he'd spent the day with Doom yesterday, showing him around, so a second appearance in two days was causing a ripple. He waited for Emma.
