Who: Midnighter and Tora
NPCs: ---
When: 9/26
Where: Tora's Room on the Carrier
What: Tora throws some engagement ideas at Midnighter.
Rating: PG-13

Tora lay on her stomach on the bed, laptop in front of her. She opened up a new document--a document that would be TOP SECRET as she and Midnighter made some more concrete plans about his upcoming engagement. She wasn't going to let him down! He and Apollo had been so nice to her. They had become her friends. She wanted this to be absolutely perfect for them.

"I have gathered a lot of data," Tora informed him, offering a bright smile. "But before we get to that, you should tell me what you are thinking." She was a romantic at heart, and she wanted to pull the romantic side out of Midnighter. "What sorts of things do you associate with Apollo?"

Considering her enthusiasm, Midnighter was sure that Tora had put together an impressive list of ideas for the thing he asked of her. In the time she'd spent on the ship, she'd made things just a lot nicer. It was actually not happy to think that she would one day be leaving them. Angie had told him that she was thinking about making up some BS excuse about keeping her.

Midnighter's suggestion was just to ask her.

He was seated on the bed beside her, so he could get a good look at the screen. He was trying to think of all the things he associated with him and Apollo. Maybe it was because he was put on the spot, but he was drawing up a blank. There were all the usual cliche dichotomies, but that's not what he wanted. Then again, this wasn't about what he wanted, this was about what Apollo wanted. Actually, it was about what they both wanted. "Not sure just yet." Maybe something small with just the two of them. Maybe something involving more people so they could have an audience?

Suddenly the idea of Pete smoking like a chimney and swearing while waiting for the whole thing to go down popped into his head. That was unappealing. Although, Pete did remind him so much of Jenny Sparks. Maybe that'd be a good idea. A small party or dinner? He furrowed his brows in thought.

"Well, what do you love the most about him?" Tora hadn't anticipated that it would be easy to get Midnighter to talk about his feelings, and she was fully prepared to start dragging anything out of him. "We can make the whole night as romantic as possible, but it's more special and memorable if the experience is personal--an expression of your love."

She turned onto her side, looking over at him. "Have you picked a ring? Well--actually, are you going to give him a ring?" She didn't know the protocols when two men were concerned.

That wasn't a question he could answer. What did he like about Apollo? It would be a shorter list if she asked him what he didn't like about Apollo. It wasn't hard to file them and put them into neat little categories, the likes. He could separate them by the intensity of how much he favored the aspects, but he usually just got derailed by other thoughts for the most part.

Maybe asking Tora was a horrible idea, although she was thinking very in detail. Apollo would appreciate the detail. He was all about the details. He was about to say something when Tora mentioned the ring. For some reason, he thought he would do that after Apollo said 'yes', if he said 'yes'. "Yeah, I just haven't picked one out yet," he admitted. Rings were a big deal for this sort of thing.

This meant he'd have to go ring shopping. He couldn't do this half-assedly. "I need to learn his ring size."

"I can help!" Tora chirped. "If you try, you'll be too obvious." She stuck her tongue out, then laughed. "Clearly you need a master spy on the case." Because chipper demeanor or no, she was trained for just this sort of situation. "Leave it to me, okay?"

She jotted down a note, thinking of ways to slyly get his ring size. "We still want the proposal to happen on the Carrier, right?"

Tora was great. She was just so positive and helpful. If she wasn't sprawled out, he'd have given her a hug, but that would've just been awkward since she was all small and stuff. "Okay."

Things were coming together, which was great, because they needed to come together. They needed to come together so that things would be perfect. Apollo deserved perfect. If anything got in the way, he was most likely going to make it hurt a lot. A lot. "Yes, on the carrier. It feels right."

"Then, I will take a walk around to find a good location for this to take place--someplace where you would likely go but also someplace where you can see the stars. Because, really, we have nothing but stars here, and that is quite romantic." Tora giggled, making a few more notes.

"Do you want food? Wine? Dessert? Music? I like these things, but what do you think Apollo would want? Sometimes, I find music distracting..." She had watched enough TV and YouTube proposals to have an opinion. Some of the grander gestures (like a flash mob) just wouldn't work on the carrier.

"We usually pizza and beer. Maybe go to a restaurant if we want to get fancy," he offered hoping that was helpful. Wine wasn't a bad choice and Apollo did have a sweet tooth. "I can handle all those details," he said to Tora, before catching himself. "Thank you for jogging my mind in the right direction." He patted her shoulder.

He took a look at the clock on the wall. "I have to go." That said, he got up and left.
