Who: Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) and Batgirl (Barbra Gordon) What: I'm sure it's going to be an epic disaster. But they meet. I will so update this once the thread gets a rolling. Where: New York - rooftops When: Friday, Sept 21st Rating: F for failtastic on Ted's part
Ducking into an alley, Ted pressed himself up against the wall and watched as the cop cars went flying past. He had thought about sticking around the scene (he had saved the day! Well saved the Subway from getting robbed, and that so counted as a win) but then a quick look at the state of his costume had made him decide to take off. Because right now? The Blue Beetle was not one with the night. He was not blending in really well right at the moment (not that he ever really blended, his costume was the wrong shade of blue for that) as he was covered in ... paint. Splotches of paint of various colours all over his costume, and Ted (who had glimpsed his reflection in a store window) thought he looked like the freaking Rainbow Beetle as opposed to the Blue Beetle. He was just grateful that he had designed a costume that was easy to wash ... and that he had an extra suit at home in case the paint didn't want to come out.
Robbers with paintball guns! Who would have thunk? The guns had looked some real, and during the initial scuffle when one went off, Ted had looked down at his leg thinking that he was going to have a hole it in, but instead found a splash of purple there on his leg. The paintball gun wielding guy had then tried shooting at him in the face, and had obscured his goggles with some paint (that Ted had mostly wiped off) and then it had been on. In the end it was Blue Beetle - 3, Bad Gus - 2. Ted was giving them a score of two since they had put up a good fight, and you know covered him in paint.
Seeing that the cop cars had gone by, Ted let out a breath, and leaned up against the wall. He was just going to catch his breath, and then head back to where he had parked the bug. This had been his first night out as The Blue Beetle in a while - because Ted hadn't been spending that much time as The Blue Beetle lately. He had really thrown himself into his work at Kord Inc, and all right he had also distracted himself for three days with the whole Talk Like A Pirate thing. A day of prep, the actual day off, and then a day to clean up from the BBQ, and just - well goof off. He did want to be a hero, he wanted to make a difference, but sometimes (a lot of the time ...) he got distracted.
Plus there was that whole thing where he knew he had gotten Oracle's attention (which he should have realized would happen when he poked around their system) and was sort of expecting Oracle operatives to just show up and maybe get all scary on him. So far tonight he had dealt with the paintball gun wielding gang, and spent a few hours waiting around, waiting for some crime to happen so he could stop it. He figured he was now done for the night - was going to quit while he was ahead.
