Billy shrugged toward Kate as he rapped the end of the staff against his hand, as one would a flashlight that was flickering because of low batteries. Eventually the light steadied and he held the staff high so the amber light extended in all directions. It was brighter and clearer than the torch, illuminating the small room they found themselves in.
"I think we've all done at least one of these by this point," he offered with sympathy as his brown eyes scanned around. "As to the challenge, if this is anything like Dungeons and Dragons, or any number of other adventure games I've played, it's pretty simple. We just have to get from here to the end of this most likely labyrinthine dungeon, fighting who knows what kind of monsters and traps along the way. Also, more than likely there will be some sort of boss monster at the end who will be much more powerful than the rest of the challenges."
Though he'd been initially worried when he had been teleported in, Billy was now kind of looking forward to this. If he was able to do any of these challenges, it'd be this one, right? After all, he'd been playing enough of these video games for years. This was the same thing, after a fashion.
"I think we go that way," he offered, pointing the illuminated end of his staff toward a small, almost unnoticed crease in the stone.
