Billy smoothed his hands over his garments, fingers picking at the intricate pattern in the blood red robe and wizard's hat he now wore.
"Oh dear," he breathed, eyes falling on Kate, Teddy, and Tommy. There was really no way of avoiding it this time. He was going to apparently have to use his magic, amped and uncontrolled as it was, if he was going to contribute to this challenge. He wasn't about to be a liability to his team like he had been in the last challenge.
He held his staff in front of him and willed the tip to glow to give them mobile light. An explosively bright flare flashed the stone room. Billy tried to blink away the dark spots that were now seared behind his eyelids. Oh dear.
"Fair warning... my contribution here might be... unpredictable." Understatement of the day, surely.
