Without knowing it, Mojo had brought one of Ollie's biggest fantasies as a child -- play-acting as an archer in the Wild Wild West -- to life. Of course, his bigger fantasy involved Robin Hood and the Sherwood Forest of medieval England, but this was a close second. It was why he'd grown up idolizing characters like Errol Flynn, Howard Hill, and Joel McCrea. He loved Westerns, because they often had archers, and featured real heroes.
So this might have been the first time since the whole age swap mess had started that GA was enjoying himself. "Aw man," he said, more to himself than to his company, "GL woulda loved this."
His demeanor changed when the frightened (but brave) little girl ran up to them and told them the story. "'Course we're gonna help, sweetheart. Bank robbers are our speciality. Speedy over there -- " Oliver tipped his Cowboy hat at Roy, who was no doubt death-glaring at Ollie's use of his former codename from when he was GA's sidekick. "started taking them down when he was just a few years older than you."
Ollie continued talking to the girl, now giving her instructions: "Go back to your mom, and tell her and everybody else to stay inside and away from the windows. And tell them we don't want anyone else to try and be a hero. Okay?"
Despite reacting strongly (and perhaps seemingly in a panicky way) to the age swap itself when it first happened, GA was able to deal with the first obstacle in their challenge well: calming the frightened civilian. Frankly, it was probably because Mojo had made it a little girl that he'd managed so well. He was good with kids. Ollie just hoped he'd be as good with the recurve bow that had been transported along with him. But it had been true, what he'd said about Roy: the kid had started going after bank robbers when he was 13. Ollie hoped that would be to their advantage, because for once he wouldn't feel guilty about it.
