Phil blinked and backed up at bit when she snapped at him and then swatted his hand away. So the awkwardness around girls had come back too, it seemed. It wasn't his intention on making things worse for her, or her angry. He wanted to explain that, but it seemed like he'd only make it more uncomfortable if he stayed.
"I ..." it was his turn for his head to duck. "Sorry. I shouldn't be provoking you into painful memories. Sorry."
Continuing to back away, reaching for the door clumsily, he couldn't meet her eyes. "I'll ... I'll see you around the 'carrier. I'm sure that Fury will have something for me to take care of even in this state. I should ... find him." And he was all awkward teenager as he damn near bolted from the room, feeling very much not in control at all, and slightly panicked.
