Re: Maria + SHIELD
It had been a hard mission. 1 hour in a booster rig to so he could make it into low orbit, followed by another 7 waiting for the world to rotate beneath him so he could make his reentry. Then hearing the SEAL team get ambushed while they were still en-route to their target. Opening his thrusters and throwing caution to the wind, Rhodey went from covert to overt- making the descent into Northern Pakistan in 1 minute instead of 2 hours. Slamming into the middle of a firefight, he managed to fight off a battalion of Taliban allied fighters, until the Black Hawks were able to extract the SEAL Team. His debrief took place during the first 3 hours of his flight back home, which mainly involved General Adams yelling at Rhodey for causing a “diplomatic clusterf***”. So when he finally activated the autopilot somewhere over the Atlantic, Rhodey was ready to catch some much needed shuteye.
Then something happened. Some kind of energy blast struck him from above, sending Rhodey spinning toward the ground below. He managed to regain control and a status update revealed he was minutes out of NYC. "SHIELD Helicarrier, this is War Machine- I'm coming in hot!" His right repulsor shorted as the energy continued to roll across his armour. Compensating with his left, he increased to maximum speed. The readouts from his suit showed the energy eating into the seals and cracks of his suit. “Oh shit!” Rhodey yelled, aiming toward the deck of the Helicarrier as exited a cloud bank.
He slammed into the reinforced titanium-steel deck, tearing a huge rent before he finally came to an abrupt stop. Inside, he moaned, even as he felt yellow energy envelope his limbs.
"AGHHHH!!" he yelled, as his suit's AI suddenly spoke.

With yell of pain, the armour opened around him, and Rhodey was forcibly ejected. He rolled out onto the deck, spinning to a stop a few meters away. Rolling onto his back, he gasped, trying to suck in air in the high-altitude atmosphere.
