Mikaal's sonic crystal was a mystery. Sometimes he felt it was somehow near sentient. It certainly seemed to have a rudimentary sort of intelligence in the sense that it 'read' energies and 'learned' them. Mik had been a simple warrior among his people, he was never privy to the knowledge of the Science Guild, and whatever technological wonders they might have worked into their power crystals. In fact, he couldn't be sure that these qualities weren't a by-product of the crystal being embedded in his chest, melded to his own live flesh. In any case, after taking two glancing hits from the rogue ship's power beams, Mik's crystal had attuned itself to that energy signature, shielding Mik from the worst of it. This specific attuning unfortunately left him wide open to the stun charges coming up at him from the ground. He didn't see them until they were right in front of him.
"Fuck! Not again!" After having half a hotel floor blow up around him, he wasn't really looking forward to more explosions of any kind. The blast from the first charge stopped him in his tracks, and he floated in place long enough for the second charge to literally blow him right out of the sky. He hurtled toward the jungle floor at dizzying speed, crashing through branches until the cracking and snapping of timber was all he could hear.
Mik blinked up from the small crater he was lying in. He shook his head like a dog. He found he was mostly deaf and more than a little disoriented, but he gritted his teeth and snarled at no one in particular as he shot right back up from the ground. He was not losing this lead now!
