Zod did not yet personally know Lois, of course, but there was something about the way she clicked her heels as she walked that told him it was her before she entered the diner. It was with restraint then that he waited until she actually entered to rise, walking around the table to extend his hand in what apparently passed as a greeting among humankind.
"Mrs. Lane-Kent", he said, as flowery as he could manage. "It is so good to finally make your acquaintance. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet me."
Politely, and from rehearsing things he had seen on television, he pulled out a chair for her, rather oblivious that in doing so it seemed more like a 'date' than a 'business meeting' of any kind.
"Would you care for a drink before we get started?"
