Who: Selina and Damian (Open for reaction/commenting to any Manor residents) Where: Wayne Manor, Crestview, Gotham, NJ When: August 18th What: Selina spreads some love and happiness in feline form. Or at least she tries to. Like father like son I guess. Rating: G
When she'd spoken to Bruce weeks ago on the subject of getting Damian a pet, Selina wasn't sure if he had taken her seriously or not. But pulling up to the manor in a town car, the small pet carrier next to her emitting a low mewling sound she really hoped that he had. Her insistence that having something to care for and look after would be good for the boy came from a personal belief that having responsibility for something dependant on you was character building. Bruce had adopted children, Selina had always preferred cats. She supposed they weren't really that different.
But her wards didn't talk back, which in her eyes was a significant advantage.
Stepping out of the black car, Selina waited for the driver to get a cardboard box out of the trunk before making her way around the building to the back kitchen entrance of the manor. Walking down the small flight of steps she tapped on the door gently, before reaching round and plunging her hand into her bag offering the driver a tip as he dropped off the box at her feet. She'd called ahead to to let Alfred know she was coming, it didn't seem right to burden Bruce with such a trivial thing at a time like this.
“Miss Kyle.” Opening the door with a slightly crooked smile, Alfred gestured for her to come inside. “I've called on Master Damian as you requested.” Selina's smiled, moving through the doorway quickly and placing the carrier on the table before doubling back to pick up the box that was placed on the step.
“Thanks Alfred --” She replied, blowing a stray hair out of her eyes. “ – Just give me five minutes...” Looking around the room, Selina placed her hands on her hips. It wasn't as if she'd become an overly regular guest over the last few months, but Alfred had become used to her turning up at odd hours. Never with a kitten though, and never with a box of food, toys and a thick book explaining the ins and outs of feline physiology.
“I think I'm going to take her through to the sitting room.” She thought out loud, moving her hands from her sides and pushing her hair back out of her eyes again. Turning to check Alfred's reaction she noted that he looked a little less than happy at the idea.
“If you wish Miss Selina, but please some of those chairs and the art work are ver....”
Selina tipped her head reaching into the box and plucking out a couple of distractions. A fluffy blue fish and a length of plastic with some feathers hanging from the end.
“Don't worry Al, this isn't my first rodeo.” Selina grinned picking up the carrier gently and pushing open the kitchen door into the manor proper with her hip. “Just tell him where I am, I'm be waiting.”
Sure, she could have just dropped the cat and let Damian get on with it. But they hadn't exactly met on the best of terms – and it was either keep avoiding him or try and make some kind of peace. She may have been a thief, but she could still appreciate a little diplomacy. Selina was certainly no Wonder Woman, but she could at least try.
