Ted had a nice computer set up in his apartment - and he was quite proud of it. But his real pride and joy, was the system he had set up in his Beetle Hangout - that's what Ted was calling it now, Lair sounded kind of sinister he decided, and while hang out made it seem more jokey and not serious, he didn't want to call it what it was. The Beetle Warehouse. He loved this computer system and it made him kind of sad times that he couldn't show it off. But it would be really hard to explain why Ted Kord had a computer set up in a warehouse that also housed lab equipment, Blue Beetle costumes, and The Bug. Well hard to explain while avoiding the whole; "Oh yes I'm The Blue Beetle" conversation.
Seated in front of his computer, Ted crackled his knuckles, and leaned forward in his chair studying the computer screen in front of him. Absently he reached out and grabbed his bottle of Dr. Pepper and took a swig, carefully place the bottle down next to his bag of chips. Ted had stocked the mini fridge here in the Beetle Hangout well in preparation for this, he expected it to be a long night.
The seeds had been planted during the Frost Giant Incident - when that message had gone out to everyone via the Oracle Network. Ted had wanted to get a better look at how that network - well worked, but there had been the Frost Giants to deal with, and then the clean up, and then access to the network had been shutdown. But Ted wanted to know more about this network - heck he wanted to know more about Oracle. So he told himself he wasn't going to be trying to hack the system, he just was going to poke around, try and get a measure of it, and see what was going on.
Placing his fingers on the keyboard, Ted soon lost himself in the world of cyberspace. Fingers dashed across the keyboard as he typed, occasionally he muttered a curse or would let out a triumphant laugh. Really, he guessed he should have asked Booster if he could borrow Skeets - he bet the little robot would have come in handy for this. Although the person Ted really wished he could have asked for assistance tonight was Babs. But he'd have to tell her about the Blue Beetle before he could ask for her help and well -- to be honest Ted wanted to gain some more notoriety as a hero before he told anyone else. So they wouldn't go "Who?" when he told them, they could go; "Oh wow he's awesome, and he's you!"
Leaning back in his chair Ted let out a sigh and glanced at the time. Okay. He still had time he could spend on this before he should start thinking about getting some sleep. He reached out for his soda and took another swig. Then it was back to fingers on the keyboard, as Ted went back to trying to scout around the edges of Oracle's network. He was taking his time, he was working hard at being sneaky, and also working hard at leaving no cyber-trail that could be followed back to him. (He didn't know how well he was doing at any of that ...).
