Re: Batman/Maria/Superman
From above them where he'd been observing, Batman scowled; he hated it when Clark did that. Leaping across to an adjacent ledge in the rock, Batman leapt down the long, dark shaft toward the library. Pressing the button concealed in his glove, he electrically charged them and touched the edge of his cape, using the shape-memory fibers to allow him to glide to an easy stop.
"Not yet," he told Kal, sending him only the mildest of censoring glares. "I still have some business with her."
Batman looked at Maria, several emotions waring within him. Clark had gotten what he wanted - to speak with SHIELD - and they had gotten their interview, as well. She had tried to ease his pain, as she said she would, but as he'd warned her, Clark was awfully stubborn in his nobility. Still, Batman knew she hadn't had to do it. It wasn't easy watching his friend stuffer through the experience, but it was necessary, and it if helped him, so much the better.
Exhaling, Batman nodded to her. "Thank you, Agent Hill," he told her. "If you'll give me just a minute, we can finish up and then I'll take you back to New York."
Clark looked tired; sad. This was the most activity he'd had in weeks, but maybe he'd have a little more peace of mind now that this was behind him. Batman could only hope so, and that they'd see him back on his feet soon.
Speaking in Kryptonian, he said quietly and kindly, "Go let Alfred feed you, then find your wife. You did a good job, my friend. I'll find you later."
