Re: Batman/Maria/Superman
Well, she couldn't say that he didn't listen. He was just bound and determined to be stupidly idealistic. Or maybe that was the solider in her not understanding how someone could consider kills in the middle of battle to still count as murder. "A man who goes into a store and buys a gun and kills commits an act of premeditated murder and goes in front of judge and jury," she agreed slowly. "What about the soldier who is shot in the gut and shoots her attacker before he can reload and put a round through her head?" Not her. But one of her soldiers, and the situation fit.
"You protect lives," she agreed, because now she was hearing just how deep that went. "What about your own life?"
The interview shouldn't be over until she said it was, but somehow, when he very bluntly drew it to a close, she had to back off. "I am quite satisfied with the interview," she said. "Though if you expect me to take this recording and file charges based on it, you are mistaken; a judge would laugh me out of the courtroom, and lawyers would fight to represent you."
