It was a philosophy she could not practice, or even entirely understand; in an active war zone, you shot to kill so that you and your buddies and all relevant civilians stayed alive. But with the recorder rolling, she didn't argue with him over it; it was enough he believed it.
"I am familiar with her, yes," Maria said even as she felt her throat momentarily close; Lois had been the one to do the article on her, and damn if it hadn't been a good article. To hear that she'd been in danger...it hit home a little, when it was someone known. "He had someone you considered a friend - someone you trusted. Could you have left him and gone to save her?"
She pounced on the one word like a cat with a bird. "Torture? Please explain." The fist, however, was well noted; he felt pain, or had a temper. Possibly both, however slow burning.
