Batman/Maria
She hated the fact that the Helicarrier was still only floating in the harbor; they should have been hovering, at the very least, and more importantly, on the move, city to city. Instead, they were wallowing in New York. It was just the slightest irritant against her, pricking at her at odd moments. Maybe they'd only been airbourne for a few months, but damnit, that was what they were meant to do.
She was waiting and watching for him, and there were only so many cars that pulled into the harbor, and only one of them that looked as though it was of someone other than a dock worker; add the bat, and it was really a shoo-in.
The harbor wasn't deep enough for them to dock, so she picked her way over the cables and along the designated safe zones to the small lifeboat suspended just at dock-level, waiting for her to board. She'd given her final orders, turned the deck over to her XO, and that was all she could do. With any luck - though her luck was running poorly these days - she would hear of any pending ending-of-world even if she was with Batman and be able to get back to SHIELD.
The boat dropped into the water, and she carefully motored over to the dock, and even more carefully tied it up before hauling herself up to ground level and heading for the sporty car with the bat symbol; it was one of the few they had, after all, and she'd need to have it back if she wanted to get back on the Helicarrier.
She strode over to the waiting figure, and spread her arms in a way that pulled the jacket taut across her, displayed the shiny silver badge at her hip and the lack of corresponding gun on the other hip, the thin black tank. "I am electronics free," she told him. This had damn well better be worth it.
