What: Todd delivers Jennie's present. It doesn't quite make it to its destination.

The apartment was quiet when Todd came through the door. He glanced around, looking for some indication that there were others in the area but found none. Jennie had likely gone out to do something, maybe some afternoon birthday celebration with friends. Where Kyle was he didn't know and didn't really care too much. Might have been out with Jennie for all he knew. This thought caused Todd to frown. Going out to celebrate without him... yeah, that would happen. He was a stick in the mud; why would anyone want him around?

He shook his head, driving away his negativity. He dipped his hand into his pocket and took out a small wrapped box. Inside were sterling silver jade earrings he had managed to find for a good price at one of the local stores near his work. Todd was quite proud of the gift. He always had a hard time figuring out what to get his sister but these just sort of jumped out at him. She was sure to like it.

Todd entered Jennie's room with the intention of placing the gift on her bed, but stopped short when he noticed the large wrapped gift standing in the middle of the room. He approached the mysterious item, his brow furrowing as he read the attached note. It was from Kyle. Of course it was. He looked over the package, attempting to guess what might be in it. Whatever it was, he didn't know, but he was certain it was far better than the meager gift he had gotten her. Todd looked down at the wrapped box in his hand, then pocketed it before leaving the room.

Suddenly the earrings didn't seem like such a great gift after all.
