It was easy. All too easy. And he was not even paid for his services. Slade made a point of trying to never to anything for free, but when it came right down to it and the country was in actual jeopardy, he made exceptions. Because though he was a mercenary now, he had been a soldier once. A soldier who had been damn proud of his country.
Slade took aim, held his breath, and squeezed the trigger of his fifty caliber sniper rifle. Through the scope he watched as the armor piercing bullet that could put a hole through concrete blew apart the head of the Frost Giant like one of Gallagher's watermelons. Pieces of skull and brain matter were sent in all directions, while something like a rest mist hovered over the shoulders of the giant for a moment before the giant fell to the ground with a crash that Slade could feel from his vantage point.
In the moment it took him to reload the weapon, he surveyed the area and saw that despite the half dozen he had already killed, there were still a large number in his area.
By his reckoning, he was going to have to break into another box of ammunition before this was over.
