Who: Bart Allen, Kara Kent
What: Bart sweeps Kara away from the chaos that is Metropolis and life as a Super these days.
Where: Manchester, Alabama
When: Sunday, July 15th
Rating: PG 13 for feelzies.
Bart was over at Kara's house within seconds of their text exchange. He was still dressed as Kid Flash, his costume only a little torn and rugged, but he himself didn't seem injured-- or if he had been, it had healed already. He wore the special spikes (a gift from Jesse) to help him run across the ice and snow without slipping. As soon as he was at Kara's, he didn't bother to knock, just vibrated his molecules through the front door, scooped her up and took off again. She said she wanted to get out of Metropolis for a while, and he could understand why. He could use a little break as well, between the Joker's death, kidnappings, fear toxins, ice, snow, Frost Giants and the new school year all looming-- Bart understood the need for some time away.
So he spirited Kara away to a field out in Manchester, someplace quiet where the world would leave them alone for just five minutes. The snow was thick and pristine aside from the tracks Bart had put in it. The trees were coated with frost and gave the whole place the appearance of a sugary, sparkling dessert; delicate, clean, and sweet.
Present moment found them lying on their backs in the snow, feet pointing in opposite directions. Bart's head lay near Kara's, his cowl pulled off but otherwise still wearing his costume. He was reaching up with his arms, holding Kara's hands in his red gloved ones, fingers locked together. Bart stared up at the snowy clouds above, opening his mouth to try to catch a few of the fluttering flakes on his tongue.
He didn't bother talking or asking Kara what she knew or how she was feeling. All Bart did was take her away from it all for just a few moments where they could just be before going back into the fray and general madness that had surrounded all of Metropolis, and the world, for the past week.
