CRACK!
Teddy tucked his arms in behind the pillar, bits of brick bouncing off the edges of his armored shoulders. He turned his head. “Yow...” Then he grinned, a manic, brawl-loving sort of grin, and rushed out and rolled to the next pillar. He skid to his side in his hurry to balk and jerk the other way from behind the pillar, but a shove of the clawed hands and he was back on his feet and rushing.
Almost there...
CRACKABOOM!
The hair stood up on Teddy’s head as he rolled and tumbled off to the side away from his intended target. He blinked the dazzling black lights out of his vision, shaking his head quickly and feeling his muscles twitching after the fact. He coughed, getting to the tips of his limbs, then sprung straight upward.
He grabbed a beam and swung upward, landing firmly on his feet, then raced rapidly down its length before swinging down below another bolt and darting at the source of the lightning.
“Tag!” He said in happy triumph, reaching a dull, clawed finger in an attempt to touch the metal headband.
==
“Oh... so close,” Billy mused humorously, eyes alight with pale fire as he slid back away from the outstretched hand. With a thought, he was airborne, coasting over Teddy’s head and laying down a layer of suppression style lightning in an attempt to force the larger teen to abandon his current position. White-blue arcs crackled and sizzled against the rubberized floor and walls, one of the few things that Billy had absolutely insisted on before even agreeing to use the space as a practice area.
He landed with ease on one of the makeshift platforms near the eastern wall and erected a few solid state barriers to attempt to slow Teddy’s progress. Truth was, he’d gotten a lot closer than Billy had intended him to. The other teen was nigh fearless. Or maybe he thought Billy wasn’t amping up the lightning. Well, he didn’t want to hurt Teddy.
“You’ll never take me alive,” he said with a large, toothy grin. And then he gave his best over-the-top evil villain laugh.
==
Teddy did have to abandon the position, the net lightning catching across the piercings in his ear. He shook his head quickly, the green hide rippling as he shook off the electricity as best he could as he bumped to a halt against another pillar.
It was a sleek, agile cat against a bulldog of a beast, this game. Teddy loved it. He couldn’t deny his love for physical activity, and that manic glee for it did make him more fearless than was healthy. Also, he loved watching Billy in action, and the other teen was at his peak without his nerves working against him. He watched him land on the platform with a smirk, more armor piling onto his thickened, green hide.
“Laugh it up while you can!” The barriers came up and he barrelled through them, the mystic forces snapping and scattering. It did slow him, and his massive fist had to smash the last. Then it was up on the wall. His hands scrabbled, not having much experience with the climbing, and it took him a few seconds of ungraceful digging and dodging bolts before his palms vacuumed properly. But once they did he was lurching up it hand over hand easily, those thick, powerful muscles sinewy and swift, deftly shifting side to side as he hurried under the platform.
“Knock, knock!” It was a gleeful warning, one hand and his toes planting firmly before the other fist burst upward through the bottom of it.
==
For the slightest of moments, Billy was exceptionally distracted by the sight of his boyfriend scaling the wall, all powerful and swift and... well sexy as hell. But then he remembered. Right, training. Look at his butt later.
As Teddy scrambled underneath the platform, Billy walked to the edge and stepped off, his powers carrying him around to the underside of the platform like the Goblin King in ‘Labyrinth’. “Nobody’s home,” he laughed as he playfully nudged Teddy’s side with his toe before erecting a shimmering purple staircase toward the ground and trotting down the underside of it. Both David Bowie and M.C. Escher would be so proud.
From the bottom, he craned his neck and looked up, folding his hand over his eyes like he was gazing a long distance away.
“Hawkeye’s gonna be mad when she sees that. This is why we can’t have nice things...”
==
He was caught unawares by that, and grinned at the upside down Billy, the red cloak fluttering downward with gravity. Now it was his turn to be highly distracted. With the cloak no longer teasing the edges, he could see every sleek plane of the other teen’s slender body.
He tried to stretch out to grab at him, but Billy slipped away. Teddy’s claws barely scraped the edge of the cloak before Billy was trotting down his steps, still upside down.
He gathered his feet and hands up closer together, spine coiling. Then sprang. He landed roughly by Billy. “Not our fault we’re unsupervised!” He attempted a more full on tag this time, arms stretching out rapidly, his spongy bones allowing the elastic motion.
And pulled him right up close to his chest. “Tag.” He smiled brightly.
==
Billy rested his hands on Teddy’s chest for a few lingering moments and stared into his deep blue eyes. He wouldn’t have minded staying there forever, wrapped in his strong arms. But he was sweating, and probably stank. Honestly, both of them were. That level of physical exertion would do that. Though Teddy didn’t smell nearly as bad to Billy as he did. Maybe it was another aspect of his mutation. He just smelled like sweat and heat and everything that Billy wanted.
“I need to rinse off,” he said almost sadly as he unwrapped himself from Teddy’s arms. He unstrapped and pulled the red cloak over his head as he walked toward the small converted shower area. He tossed the cloak onto a ledge and unzipped the side of the wetsuit-like costume. The material peeled away from his sweat-soaked skin with a small hiss. He pulled the metallic head dress and half hood of the same material off next and tossed them near the cloak.
“I still don’t see why this has to be so... form-fitting,” he moaned as he stripped his arms and chest out of the costume, letting the upper portion dangle around his hips. It was the same complaint that he’d had with it from the very beginning, hence the addition of the scarlet cloak to at least preserve some sense of modesty. At first, it had been a serious issue. Now, he was kind of getting used to it. And frankly, he liked the attention he got from Teddy’s eyes when the other teen thought he wasn’t looking.
He walked over to the small fridge and pulled it open, the cool air instantly felt on the exposed skin of his chest and arms.
“You want a soda or V8 or something?”
==
The large, clawed hands released him easily, just trailing after him enough to show the reluctance. He followed after, still smiling and shaking his head as Billy complained. “It’s a really cool outfit. Suits you.” He reeeeally liked the outfit. That had probably been obvious by the first time he had seen Billy in it and had been unable to speak properly for a full twenty minutes.
The armor faded some as he walked, becoming a much smoother leather. He reached up, brushing at himself, felt the hair and realized with some embarrassment how ludicrously misshapen it was from the zaps. A quick shake of his head and it straightened out, his nubby claws mussing it up to its usual state. There. All better. Teddy’s natural form was comfortable, but he couldn’t deny allowing the green pigment and tougher skin was feeling just as familiar and easy.
He watched Billy peel out of the outfit and search the fridge. ... Totally worth how sore I’m going to be later. He had to be thankful Billy didn’t go all out on him. Teddy was tough, but he hadn’t the slightest doubt that Billy could easily defeat him in a serious contest. It made that familiar warmth in his chest thrum that much more. Yep. My boyfriend’s kickass.
“V8,” he said, gladly heading up to take the offered can. He was starting to link what he ate to how well he healed. Soda wouldn’t do him any favors now. “You’re getting a lot better at all this, you know.”
==
Billy smiled at the compliment as he shut the door to the fridge and handed the can of vegetable juice to Teddy. “Thanks,” he said quietly as he cracked the top of his own open and took a large gulp. He wasn’t sure that he’d ever get used to V8, but it was healthier and he was trying to take this whole thing seriously.
“You weren’t half bad either,” he purred as he stretched to give the slightly taller Teddy a light kiss on his lips. Of course, the kiss, like a few before it, was merely a distraction from Billy’s true target, which was the zipper on Teddy’s vest. He hooked his finger through the loop and slowly began pulling it toward Teddy’s abs, attempting to pull him toward the couch as he did so.
“I... erm... couldn’t help but notice... we’re the only ones here.” Color flushed to Billy’s cheeks as he spoke, and his lips quirked in a sheepish smile. What was that about needing to rinse off? That thought was already forgotten, replaced by another one, the same one that seemed to drum through most of Billy’s waking moments, and even sometimes found its way into his dreams. My Teddy. After all, he was a seventeen year old boy. He had certain... needs... as it were.
==
There was no protesting to the unzipping, just an unmistakable smudging of color darkening his cheeks. Billy could have led him by just the slightest motion at that moment. The way his cheeks were colored and the shy silk of his murmurs--it was enchanting, without ever the need to whisper a spell. Teddy’s heart skipped a beat (and this time not at all due to lightning volts coursing through his body).
“We are...” he agreed, voice quiet as he glanced around the abandoned building, soundless but for their footsteps and voices. Just them... such different seeming people in physique and personality. How had he managed this, finding someone who not only didn’t mind that he could shift into a big green brute, but also had his own fascinating abilities? How’d he manage to find someone who was so absolutely nice and accepting of him?
His eyes skipped over Billy’s bare torso, stilling his hands from reaching. And someone who is just so damned... Geez, Billy, do you even have a clue how gorgeous you are?
Billy was turning about now that they were to the couch. His brown eyes were gliding up Teddy’s chest till they met his intense blues.
Stop thinking, Teddy, he demanded to himself, letting his body move. His hand moved up to slide over the back of Billy’s neck, brushing up against the dark, shorter hairs there. His lips met his smoothly, kissed... Kissed again more fervently, his fingers wrapping with a sharp, greedy hunger. He didn’t even know how he managed to lean and balance the two of them to sink so easily into the couch without ever ceasing the intense grasp of their lips.
He gasped and pulled in a shuddering breath before kissing again, feeling the shift of Billy’s breathing, the heat and motion of his body under his. How could anyone... anyone not be overtaken by that painful, blissful sensation that pulsed through his veins?
I wish I could say it. He pulled away to breathe, leaning his forehead against Billy’s. “You know...”
==
From his new position, crushed exquisitely between the couch and Teddy, it was a difficult chore to release the metal clasp of the zipper of the larger teen’s vest. Still, Billy accomplished it with only a few false starts. He peeled the fabric off Teddy’s shoulders and over his arms, revealing the beautiful green skin beneath and deposited the vest carelessly on the floor beside the couch.
“I was right,” he whispered huskily between the frenzied press of their lips. “You... shirtless... sexy pants. Perfect outfit.”
His hands explored Teddy’s slightly roughened skin, so different than when they’d first met in the library. His hands had been so smooth, like they had never seen hardship in their lives. And so... flesh toned. Now Teddy was above him, the drumming of his heart loud and vibrating through Billy’s heightened nerves. And the skin he was touching now, though rougher, though green, was still as perfect as it had been that day.
For his part, Billy felt like he was being electrocuted, only softly and in a way designed to make every single inch of him crave more. How did one fight a hunger that only seemed to grow when presented with the object of its satisfaction? His hands dragged their way down to the small of Teddy’s back, the tips of his fingers dancing lightly against the waistband of the larger teen’s costume.
When Teddy pulled away to breathe, Billy used the brief disconnection to squirm underneath him until he had adjusted his legs, intertwining them with Teddy’s and pulling the other teen down on him until their bodies were so close, air would have had a hard time finding a place between them.
And then he spoke, and Billy almost knew what he was going to say. But he was torn. He wanted him to, but part of him didn’t at the same time. He wanted to say it himself, but it scared him. It scared him to even think about it. Because it was there, and adult, and what if something happened? They had already lucked out about a great many things, and weathered others; both of them being mutants and Billy’s own moodiness being among them.
“I know...” he said back, deep brown eyes lightly glistening. “Me too.”
==
That was enough. He knew. They knew. He kissed him again, his body flexing instinctively against the other, arms wrapping tightly.

Kate didn't have any real plans for the night, but it'd been a day or two since she'd managed to drop in. She had to make an appearance for the troops, if they were around. She was hoping someone was around. She'd given access to the building to everyone on the team and hadn't had much time to spend with them over the weekend due to obligations.
Some of that obligation included flying solo for the night in order to work out feelings. Now, it was around evening, so if anyone was there, she didn't want to show up empty handed. It was time to work on some team type stuff. That is why she was carrying two boxes of pizza.
The door squeaked open, the sound of it closing echoed through the wide room. "Hello," she called out to check if anyone was there. It sure sounded like there was. She followed the noises toward the other room.
==
Billy was half nibbling, half dragging his lower lip along the side of Teddy’s neck when he heard the squeak and then echo of the door opening and shutting. Oh... Crap... Who had come in? There were only three options that he could think of as possibilities; well four if he were to count the possibility of the space being broken into. He ruled out Tommy quickly enough. The speedster was likely to have already be on them, gaping or making some sort of sarcastic comment. So that left either Kate or Eli, neither of which Billy particularly wanted to see him in his current situation.
At the sound of Kate’s hello and the footsteps growing louder, Billy’s brown eyes grew as wide as the embarrassed smile that now lit his face. He tried to push Teddy off of him and into a semi-upright position, but their current orientation, coupled with the size difference between the two teens made that effort futile.
“Get off me... It’s Kate.” His voice was barely a whisper and colored with urgency. As if he had to explain that. Well, with the dreamy look in Teddy’s eyes, he might have had to.
==
Whump!
He at first had been confused by Billy’s sudden stopping, so intently absorbed he had been in that absolutely blood-rushing nibbling on his neck. Then the pushing, and he had tried to pull back. Oh, that was right; Billy’s legs...
So now he was blinking from his spot on the floor by the couch, pulling himself to sit forward with his legs partly crossed and his large hands splayed on the floor in front of him. He looked to Billy with a lost “whyyyy!?” in his eyes before looking to the door. Then what Billy had said registered.
“Oh, hi Kate.” And he gave his usual friendly smile, never mind how bright red his face was, and gave his typical, little wave. Nope! Nothing going on here! Heh, heh! eheh...
==
"Hey guys," Kate said as she walked into the room where the boys were. Completely oblivious to the goings on, she walked by them at least twice putting things away. She finally turned to look and was greeted with Teddy looking like a beet. "You guys should really take it easy on the training," she said bringing the boxes of pizza over. "I brought food. Do we still have some cokes?"
Oh yeah, she was totally ignoring whatever was just going on. She was already in, so leaving would just bring on the awkward. That and the pizza would get cold. This was always one of those weird things she didn't know how to deal properly with. It would've been one thing if she'd walked into someone's bedroom or someone's house, but this was an open area in the hideout. She wasn't going to perch outside and tell people not to come in.
She'd have to talk to Eli about whether they needed to make a policy about this sort of behavior.
==
“Oh... um... Kate,” Billy sat on the couch and pulled his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them in an effort to make himself small and unnoticed. “We really were training... honest. At first...” He released one of his legs long enough to use his foot to slide Teddy’s vest toward where he was sitting at the base of the couch.
“I am... so sorry! I-we didn’t mean to be disrespectful or anything... It’s just... his mom... my parents...” By this point, Billy’s hue could have easily given Teddy’s a run for the money.
“Yeah... there’s still coke,” he said as an afterthought. “I’m gonna go get changed, I guess.” He stood and headed toward the small changing room where his ‘normal clothes’ had been situated.
==
Teddy draped the vest back on in record time, zipper sounding loudly. He watched Billy go sheepishly, then looked back at Kate.
… He pointed toward the training area. “The insulation works great, by the way. I’ll fix the platforms and the wall cracks and...” He stopped, sniffing. “Anchovies?” He stood up, heading toward the pizza boxes hopefully.
==
Kate hadn't been expecting Billy to react that way. He looked like he felt bad about the thing, and then he started not finishing his sentences. She just let him go on, when she probably should've just cut him off with a wave of a hand to tell him it was fine. She would have said it didn't bother her, but it kind of did. She couldn't blame them for wanting some privacy away from their parents. She understood that unlike her, some teens had parents who wanted to know them and be with them all the time.
"Ok," she said to Billy as he retreated.
She pulled the fridge open and procured a couple of beverages. That gave Teddy enough time to properly redress himself. As nice looking as he was, she didn't need to see that much of him. That was not hers to look at. "Here you go," she said handing Teddy his drink as Billy went to get dressed. "This half has anchovies," she said flipping the box open. She couldn't understand why he'd like it.
"Since the three of us are alone," she said dropping her voice. "Do you want to talk about the thing you tried to tell me at the party?"
==
With Billy being in the changing room and Kate lowering her voice, he didn’t hear what she had asked. Even if he had, he wouldn’t necessarily know what she was talking about anyway, having not been privy to that particular conversation at the party. However, it didn’t take him long to peel off the rest of his costume and put on his normal clothing. He was a pretty quick dresser usually, since being able to get ready for school quickly meant a few precious extra minutes of sleep each morning. It only took a minute or two more to get his socks and shoes on, shirt tucked in, belt secured, and costume wiped down and hung up to air dry.
He tried to avoid rolling his eyes at the way Teddy was giddy over anchovies. That boy had, hands down, the strangest taste in foods sometimes. Billy was sure that he’d never really understand it.
The few moments away from Kate and the situation had allowed him to collect his thoughts and compartmentalize the events that had just happened. No more undressing your boyfriend and making out in the hideout... He pulled his fingers through his hair as he walked toward the other two, a cheery, if still slightly embarrassed smile back on his lips.
He looked at Kate, then Teddy, brow arching quizzically at the looks on their faces.
“Did I miss... something?’
==
“It... would probably be a good idea. You know how he and Tommy look alike? You might... ask him about that.” The serious look faded though as he took a slice of pizza and bit into it, getting quite a bit of anchovy. He looked like he might melt from happiness. In fact, he did seem to melt, the green turning more peach and his hair blonder until he looked like a normal person once more. Even with his shortened stature, he was taller than the others. Whereas he had mimicked height before, now he was truly going through a growth spurt.
“See, um... how to say...” He loaded the piece of pizza with some pepper flakes absently. “It involves magic, mind you... so it’s pretty screwy.” He chewed thoughtfully. “But if we’re going to be a team, we should probably know the potential dangers.”
He nodded toward Billy. “Not really, but concerning everything about the week before your birthday... They probably need to know at least some of it. And it needs to come from you.”
==
This was a really delicate situation. Kate had to fight a look of guilt off. She didn't like talking about people behind their backs, but she just didn't know how to approach it otherwise. "Teddy was just telling me you had a hard week, and I wanted to know if you wanted to talk about it," she said evenly. It was true. She did want to know if he wanted to talk about it. More pressingly, she wanted to know why it was so important that Teddy had to pull her aside at the birthday to tell her that it was important.
"And there's the part where he thinks we should hear about it. I understand if you don't want us to pry. You don't have to tell us anything you don't want to," which was true to a point. She wasn't going to force him, but if it put the team in danger she'd rather know no matter what his feelings on the matter were. But like Teddy said, it was definitely better if it came from Billy himself.
==
“Oh... That.”
Billy ignored the elephant in the room for a few moments while he secured a couple slices of anchovy-free pizza and his V8 from earlier. The food was good, but the time chewing his first bite also helped him catalog and organize his thoughts. It made sense that Teddy would say something to Kate, because that was the type of person Teddy was. It also made sense that he wouldn’t say what it was, because he wasn’t the type to share personal matters with others.
“Remember when I messaged you and said that there was a person at the Avengers press conference that I felt uncomfortable being there? Well, it was the Scarlet Witch... Wanda’s her actual name. At the time, I thought it was because she was going crazy and her powers were going to flare out of control, because that was what I had been told by my mentor.”
Billy took another small bite of his pizza and washed it down with V8.
“Truth is... my mentor was the one that attacked Gotham that night. Also, and I really don’t know how to explain this any more than I am right now, because I don’t know all the specifics as to how it works... but the Scarlet Witch is my mother. And maybe Tommy’s too.”
==
“Told you. Magic. Makes it screwy.” Teddy spread a palm, and then shoved the rest of the crust down his maw easily. A hard swallow and it was gone.
“And Wanda is actually very nice seeming. But hopefully off-duty at the moment. Should be anyhow.”
==
Kate waited patiently and ate in silence as Billy took his time. When he finally spoke, she looked at him, giving him her full attention. What he said had caused her eyes to widen and then a confused expression fell upon her face. Teddy had summed up her thoughts entirely too well, but that's not what she was going to say. "That would explain why you look alike," she started thoughtfully.
"Is her being your mom going to interfere with this?" she asked slowly. "I mean, if this is what you want to keep doing, will she try to stop this or keep you from hanging out with us?" It might have sounded like she was more concerned about the team, but she'd grown to consider Billy a friend. They'd had each other's backs more than once, and...she rather selfishly didn't want to let him go. "Does Tommy know?"
==
Billy shrugged. “Normally, I’d say no, it shouldn’t affect anything. Then again, she does have access to the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., so if she really wanted us to stop...” He didn’t bother finishing that sentence. Everyone there could easily imagine how outclassed they’d be if that situation happened.
“As for Tommy,” Billy swallowed a bite before continuing. “I mentioned it at the party. I didn’t directly come out and say that I thought he was my brother or that Wanda was his mother too, but I implied it. I don’t know if he picked up on it or not.”
==
“Tommy’s not dumb.” Teddy picked up the last piece of anchovy pizza, then paused, thinking. “Impetuous... But not dumb. If the hint has been dropped, he won’t pick it up only because he doesn’t want to.”
He looked to Kate with his usual, optimistic grin. “And hey, what did you tell me before? ‘As if anyone can stop us?’ We’re not in this for ourselves. We’re in this because... well... because of what we’ve already done. We’ve stopped how many robberies? We broke up a really bad gang ring trying to harass the local shops out of money. That one lady probably would never have seen her home again when that guy tried to bust into her car and take off with her in it. And those drive-by shooters they...” He shrugged, grinning. “Well, it took a while for the cops to get them where we left them hanging, but even so!” He took a big bite of pizza, talking around it easily. “Mm. They can’t do it all. Even Wanda should be able to understand that. And so long as we got each other’s backs, well...” He gulped the last of the piece. “So let’s keep on. If it gets to be a problem, we can handle it.”
==
Kate pursed her lips as she listened to the both of them. She couldn't help but smile when Teddy quoted her. It made her want to lean over and give him a hug, but there had been awkward boy times before she had come in, so she thought better of it. The girl honestly hadn't thought of all the heroic deeds they'd done. She didn't see it as a big picture kind of deal in that way, but Teddy was definitely putting it into a better perspective for her.
When she'd said no one could stop them, she wasn't thinking full-on military government installment. SHIELD was pretty intimidating including the line-up, but she was willing to do what she had to do, to keep doing what she was doing. "You're right," she said conceding to Teddy's argument. "Here's hoping that SHIELD doesn't swing personal favors for their operatives," she said to Billy.
