Laura, Jason, & Dog
Sometime during the night, she had found herself very cold. The dog had come to snug up against her, but the sheet was thin because when she'd first gone to bed, it was warm. Eventually, she found herself picking into Jason's closet in hopes of finding more blankets. She found two more, but with the way the heat was dropping, she knew there was no way she could have one and he the other.
While he slept, she pulled one blanket over him, and then another. A moment later, she had slipped into the bed with him and slid as close to him as she could manage without touching him. The dog rested against her stomach, beneath the two blankets as well. He was a heavier sleeper than she'd expected.

In the morning, she had her arms wrapped around him. Her body clung tightly to his back for warmth. The temperature had dropped even more in the few hours between the transition from the couch to the bedroom. She remembered turning off the cooler and closing the windows. She thought of getting up, but the dog laid contentedly still against her back. She could hear it's even breathing as it slept.
