Who: Genis-Vell (open to reaction from Kristoff!)
Where: Location Undisclosed
When: Thursday, June 28, Early Morning
What: Captain Marvel boards his hidden ship to send a report to his superiors in the Kree Imperial Space Navy's intelligence division.
Rating: PG
The ship's internal lights brightened slowly as it recognized the presence of Captain Genis-Vell, agent of the imperium. It had been months since his last update, and, on schedule, he'd arrived again to send a coded transmission back to his home planet. One of his home planets, anyway. While Hala was a galaxy away, the moon Titan was far closer, on the very doorstep of Earth, cosmically speaking.
One advantage of working with STAR Labs, and working in the shadows of individuals like the Fantastic Four, or moonlighting within organizations with the most advanced technology Earth had yet to produce, was that he could confirm that the Kree were still advanced far beyond their capabilities for any transmission such as these. There was a chance Skrulls still on the planet could intercept it, but their psychology was well-known by the Kree and the encryption algorithms all but precluded their ability to even begin to encode them. The same could not be said for some very rare and exceptional humans that he'd either been studying or, in some cases, had come into contact with.
Even though he'd once considered himself to be only comfortable in his blue skin, Genis still looked very much like his human guise, and was finding it preferable to maintain it outside of actual operational requirements. Also, it reminded his Kree brethren that he was also Eternal, and resembled very much the humans he'd been sent to keep an eye on. Not that they could share his appreciation for their entertainment mediums and rich history. They'd reached the nuclear technological level millennia faster than the Kree ever had, even if Hala's recorded history was many times the length of Earth's and therefore far more advanced. Their progress may even intimidate the more paranoid of his brethren. It was something he did not intend to share with them at this time. His mission was to protect Earth from extraterrestrial threats, not put it under the microscope for overzealous Kree.
He began recording his message, smiling curtly in the recorder and saluting. They'd forgive his swagger when they heard what he had to share.
"Salutations, August Lord Accuser. I know you don't care for pleasantries, so I'll get to the point. You're welcome."
Genis leaned forward in his seat. "The extent of the Skrull presence on Earth is not currently known, though I estimate it is still small and they are likely years away from any attempted invasion... if that is their intent. I've encountered numerous cells, none of which are in communication with each other at this time, and I've found them mostly in populous areas centered around... we'll call it anomalous aboriginal activity. Specifically, pockets of larger cities that show a substantial presence for the Advanced Humanoid Phenomenon... known colloquially as super-humans. Their interest likely surrounds finding methods to shut down these beings should an invasion be forthcoming. All cells have been eliminated as per your standing orders.
"Most disturbing is a recent encounter I had with a Skrull that had undergone genetic alterations on the deepest level in an attempt to create a superhuman..." Genis shook his head, "I should say a superskrull. If there are more instances, I will break our scheduled communications to send more urgent information.
"In other news, it may interest the Imperium and the Supreme Intelligence that there are no less than four humans granted membership in the Green Lantern Corps by Oa. I have faced off against one already, and while I am highly suspicious of the motives of the Guardians, the humans seem to be using their rings to uphold interstellar peace. They may be pawns. Do we have any contact with Oa?
"Also of import, the Starheart appears to be on Earth, and I am close to locating it. I am prepared to do what is necessary to secure it should its presence come to the attentions of any aggressors or enemies of the Imperium.
"There are many aliens on Earth, some here peacefully. More than one of the endangered Kryptonians and peaceful Martian I mentioned in my first report, and others. I do not know what makes this planet such a lure for Visitors, but I begin to understand that my mission here may be larger than I was originally informed it would be.
"The humans are aware of the presence of aliens as well, but as expected their safeguards have not pierced our stealth technology nor zeroed in on my movements. While their defense forces tasked with protecting the planet from aliens busy themselves with beach parties and ice cream socials, I remain able to operate with impunity."
The Captain smirked and shook his head, allowing for a small chuckle. It was likely that the Accuser would not know what those things were, as he'd spent no time on Earth or learning its more casual customs. Also, it was laughable what Earth had put into place to protect itself from hostile outsiders. It was a good thing Genis-Vell was present, keeping the peace and doing their work in the shadows of their primitive civilization.
"I remain, as ever, a loyal son of Hala. May this message find you in good health, and may the light of the Kree Imperium shine brightly from now to the end of days! Captain Genis-Vell, signing off."
He encoded the message, and sent it off. It would take a few days to reach them, and a few days more for any return message. In the meantime, Captain Marvel would return to his observations. Earth was an enigma, one he had begun to enjoy immensely.
