It was a sad fact, but Selina had never really been in any kind of relationship before. She'd never been able to let anyone in long enough to try and make things work. There had been dates, long dinners with surgeons and wealthy city types. None of them had ever gotten further than her front door though – it was as if her heart had been covered up, wrapped away in scar tissue. But slowly layers were peeling away, she was beginning to show Bruce her real self. It felt scary and uncertain, but she also felt more at peace than she'd done in years. She was just worried that one day he would uncover something he wouldn't like, even if he did think he knew everything about her past. There were still things that Selina didn't like to think about, things that she had done, things that she had been forced to do...
One thing Selina had learned over her life was how to be a good listener. Some how she could soak the worries and concerns of others up like a sponge whilst wilfully ignoring her own problems. Listening to Bruce was therapeutic for her, and useful for him. Above anything else she wanted him to know she was here for him, through anything. They'd been through far too much separately for her to run away from him now, from what they could grow to be.
“I like Hill.” Selina replied simply, trying to clear her head and turning back to Bruce as she headed towards the bathroom “Mainly because she didn't try to arrest me that night on the helicarrier....” There was something about the SHIELD agent that made Selina feel like she could try and trust her – or trust her much as she would allow herself anyway. Those in authority made her feel nervous, they always had. But if Bruce thought she was a possible friend inside of SHIELD that was good enough for her for now. Maybe she deserved a little more scoping out – but was perhaps a job for Selina Kyle, not Catwoman. “She could be useful.”
Flicking on the lights in the bathroom Selina glanced around the room smiling. The shower was huge and very inviting. But then again so was the tub.
Selina wanted to say that Superman could take care of himself, but the way Bruce spoke – his voice was full of concern. It was clear to Selina how much the two men cared for each other, and if Bruce was worried perhaps Superman couldn't deal with this one.
“He'll be fine. You have each other's backs. Luthor's lies aren't good enough to convince anyone that Superman needs to be put down. He's the world's golden boy...” Selina cast Bruce a sympathetic look. “And if you're suspicious, don't tell anyone, but I know someone who's terribly good at snooping on people.” She continued, raising an eyebrow. Luthor didn't scare her, she'd dealt with men far more driven than even he seemed to be. And everyone had something hidden away, some dirty little secret that could be used against them. Luthor probably had more than most.
Selina glanced back to the bathroom again, walking a little further inside and propping herself up against the sink area, her hands rubbing against the tops of her arms.
“Only you would have a shower system controlled by a series of programs. Honestly Bruce....” She smiled playfully before rubbing her lips together. “It's almost as if you don't want anyone else in here taking advantage of the hot water...”
