Bruce chuckled. "You know we're going to get that, don't you?" He asked, completely serious. "Bruce Wayne has very few redeeming qualities; they're going to think you're using him because he's completely dim-witted, wealthy, and you're far more intelligent." And he was perfectly alright with that.
As much love as there was in his life, there was also a lot of heartache. But it didn't matter to him what the others thought about his relationship with Selina. Bruce felt that he should have earned their trust to some degree, but he did understand where they were coming from. He had a long history with women, and not all of them had his best interests at heart.
After so many years of waiting for Selina, he had finally decided to act. Bruce knew people; he may not be good with them, but he could read them, and he knew Selina very well. He was not wrong about her - he was just afraid that he was. He couldn't help that, it was just the way he was.
"It's not completely your fault," he said. "Yes, you have a past, but my history with women isn't the best. They don't hate you; there may be a little jealously on one side," he admitted. "Just be yourself." Smiling softly, he brushed her hair back. "Whatever else they are, they're mine. They'll see the truth, just as I do."
She was right; something big was coming to Gotham, and he could feel it, too. Resting his chin atop her head, he exhaled. "Luthor is going to win," he predicted grimly. "he's too charismatic, and has too much money not too. I don't know if I can make a different with SHIELD, but whatever happens after Luthor is in charge, the balance will shift completely. I have to try with them before that happens."
And he trusted her intuition. Female, feline, or thief - they always knew. And so did Batman.
