“Well I think everyone knows that I'm only with you for the money.” Selina couldn't resist poking him in the side gently as she spoke. “It's nothing to do with your sparkling personality and wit.” Her eyebrow flickered slightly. Sometimes she couldn't resist teasing him, just a little – he could stand it after all. “It's all about that amazing tub and what's in your garage.” Selina smirked., one of her eyebrows arching as she tried to suppress a laugh.
Thinking of Bruce's family, it made an ache run through her. He was an orphan, just like her, but his life was full of love, even if he didn't realise it. Bruce attracted hope as much as Batman seemed to attract and exist in complete darkness. Selina had more or less always been alone and worked alone. It was why half the rogues gallery didn't trust her and the other half thought she was crazy. Not allying yourself with anyone was seen as a dangerous move in Gotham. But the way Selina saw it, no one was as good as she was and anyone else would have slowed her down. Plus she didn't need to share her takings with a accomplice, not what she didn't even need any assistance in the first place. Her line of work had been so different from his, but it was all beginning to change, and Selina found herself wondering if she could find a place working along side him as well as being with him.
Maybe one day, but by the sound of things not all of his birds were keen on her presence in his life. But that couldn't be helped. To some, Selina had done a lot of unforgivable things in the past. She'd routinely run rings around the GPD not so many years ago, and the same could be said for Batman. Though she always assumed he let her get away more often than not.
But she was changed now, and she just hoped she could prove it, and make herself count. She guessed for some people, she'd earnt her reputation. And a reputation could sometimes be an awful thing to try and shake.
“Well at least I know how they feel.” Selina sighed a little. She could resign herself to a little bit of distrust – if that was the worst of it all. "I just hope they don't hate me." She quirked an eyebrow again, looking up at him, her green eyes suddenly full of intent.
SHIELD was a completely different matter.
“I don't trust them either – but you were right, that night at the Gotham High Prom. You need to be on the inside. We need to know what we're dealing with. But I just can't shake the feeling that something terrible is going to happen in Gotham – that and Luthor's election. He's just so slippery. None of it smells right.”
