Selina's own thoughts on children were very similar. Growing up on the streets had shown her just how many young lives could be so easily lost. The thought of a child, no matter how much some part of her, deep down inside longed to hold a baby in her arms, something created out of love and joy – made her stomach flip. The life she'd made for herself wasn't fit for a child. She'd seen to that long ago. Marriage, stability? It was all so far away, a life belonging to another Selina Kyle. A lucky Selina Kyle. Whatever this was between them, this was the first time she'd felt anything other than simple lust. Bruce may have been in love before, but this was new for Selina. She'd locked her heart away so long ago that even admitting her feelings to him had been difficult. The distance between them and Gotham had made things simpler – and now she was home, open and honest with him. She wanted to tell him her own experiences, make him realise...but this wasn't the time.
Leslie had her files, her records from the state locked up in her safe, and for all Bruce knew about her time in the East End, there was no way he could know about her Mother, her Father. Their deaths. Not even Leslie knew the full story. Just the facts, taken from stained GPD paperwork that Selina had stolen from archives when he was eighteen. She understood him more than he knew.
But that was a story for another day. When she was feeling stronger, when Bruce didn't have so many of his own answers to give.
“Just because he was never shown compassion it doesn't mean that he'll never understand it.” Selina moved closer towards Bruce, her fingers contracting over his chest. “It's not something that can be trained or learnt. We all have the capacity to feel, to do what's right. All he needs is a chance. We can give him that chance.”
Bruce's kiss was warm and it cut straight through her. After all that they'd discovered about each other, all she knew – Selina didn't think she'd ever get used to the way his lips tasted and felt when they were pressed against her own. As they parted Selina let out a a small moan of enjoyment.
“Broken is a relative term.” She smiled gently. Hearing his speak about Superman and Tony, knowing how he felt about the men that supported him, his friends. It proved to her that Bruce wasn't completely shattered They would never give up on him, and in turn he was there for them. It made her feel hope inside, not only for him – but for them. “And I'm not going anywhere. After all, I've only just gotten into your bed. It'd be a shame to give up on things so soon...” Selina teased, her head moving closer to his, coming to rest next to his own as his hands moved through her hair.
“What do they think of me? Your kids, Tony? I'm assuming that they're not quite as ken on me as you are. I'd ask about the boy scout but he's already made his feelings perfectly clear.” Selina thought back to reading the letting, how surprised she'd been. At least she had someone on her side, and it couldn't be more unexpected. It made her moth twitch, holding back a grin.
