Truth be told, Kyle was a little jealous. It'd be nice not to have to worry about an income, which made him consider as he often did why Lanterns were not compensated for their work monetarily. Sure he could stay on Oa if he so chose and have everything he needed, but outside of that he was pretty much on his own, just like any sector bound GL. Clearly, he was going to have to have a word about this with the Guardians.
Not that they'd listen.
Kyle almost choked on his shot at Jen's words, and Guy's reply. "You asked a girl out? You, Guy Gardner, a Lantern I have seen charge in reckless against alien threats from one side of the universe to the other but grow awkward before a pretty face? Seriously?"
It took him less than a second to realize that Jen clearly must have had something to do with this, but if she had to be his crutch for it to work out, so be it.
"Clearly I a going to have to help prep you for this. I mean, going to battle against, say, the Baddoon is one thing. But going out with a girl you like is another war entirely. We're talking an enemy that will swallow your very soul..." He trailed off, glanced at Jen, and shrugged. He supposed she could not help being female. "...If you may one misstep."
"But hey, at least you got your foot in the door."
