"I"ll make sure to choose something that I think will be to your taste," she told him. It was always exciting going to the theatre, especially with someone who was just beginning to explore it, but along with that was the anxiety that they wouldn't like it and would hate the experience. The theatre was usually expensive, long, and potentially uncomfortable once you committed to it.
Pepper had been glad for the offer to pick her up, as it allowed her to have Phil collect her directly from work. This meant that not only could she stay busy right up to the last minute, but that she wouldn't have to navigate the end of the evening awkwardness if he'd had to take her home.
While she'd been aware of the potential problems of leaving her car at work and had even moved her car from Tony's garage to the employee parking lot, it wasn't until they were halfway back to S.I. that she realized her car would be one of only a few left in the lot with the night crew and security - and surrounded by cameras.
Pepper frowned.
It was gone in seconds though, and by the time she was out of the car, there was no trace of the expression. "Then let me say it," she said. Fighting the urge to flinch, very aware of the likelihood that they were being watched, Pepper kissed Phil's cheek. "Thank you for a lovely evening. Let's do it again, soon."
Going to her car, she took a deep breath and held it until she was out of the garage.
