Because I think they desrve to meet properly...
God it was good to be back. Selina cracked her whip and the sound rang out like shot, piercing the darkness that surrounded her. The whip latched to an ornate looking gargoyle and without looking down Selina raced from the edge of the roof, her weight and speed causing her to swing over the alleys below, around the edge of the gargoyle and up onto the ridge of the building. Her breath caught in her chest as she lurched forward a little, her hands gripping onto the buildings' silent protector as she looked out over the city. There was a thick fog rolling in over the docks and she could still see the metallic sore thumb of SHIELD sticking out. In the distance she heard thunder, just a low rumble. That's what she needed, a good thunder storm, something to clear the air. She needed to get soaked in that filthy Gotham rain, to taste it on her tongue and really know she was at home.
Selina grinned, standing up from her crouched position and backing up onto the actual roof of the building. It was quiet. Too quiet. She'd expected a little more chaos especially now since the Joker had escaped. To think it was only little over a week ago that Batman had said with such certainty he was safely stored away on Arkham. She should have known better. That combined with the fact that Eddie had killed again made her feel on edge. She knew that she wasn't a catalyst, that she couldn't have figured in their plans at all, how could she? But it was still odd to know these things had happened just as she'd returned. Funny really.
She knew it was going difficult trying to wash her hands of that life, those people. Truth was she'd never had much to do with them anyway. She was the hired help. The thief they all used when they didn't have the smarts to do the job themselves - and she always charged. She supposed that made their relationships more business than anything else. Better than personal. Selina gazed up into the orange sky, glowing from the city lights, unnatural and hazy. She opened her mouth a little, feeling a tiny drop of rain fall across her lips. Home sweet home.
