And that was exactly why she said what she said - to get Hal to back off.
"I will," she confirmed with a nod and smile. Of course, they were just things, but Hal had never been an orphan. She didn't get gifts often and when they did there were always some sort of strings attached. Which was why gifts from friends bore extra meaning for her. "Still doesn't make me appreciate it any less," she informed him, with a shrug, packing the film canisters back into the box they had come in and setting them aside once more.
"I know, Hal. You're first on the list. Right under Alan." What could she say? Her dad was her dad but Hal was Hal. It apparently meant she could tell him things that she couldn't tell anyone else.
"So, what's new with you? Catching up works both ways, you know."
