For once Jean had decided that enough paper work was enough for the day and she'd placed it all neatly in her mail tray before leaving and locking her office up. The sun was shining in Westchester, only a fine cloud cover in the sky – she'd picked a good day to meet Scott for lunch. The rain that had set in over the last couple of days had left the grass of the large lawn looking a little greener; and as Jean took a seat on the stone steps leading up to the main door of the school she couldn't help but smile contently to herself.
Somewhere in the distance she could hear children playing happily, the sound flooding not only her ears but her mind. She was filled with the heady buzz of excited students and the feeling of the sun on her skin. It was enough to almost make her forget everything that had been weighing on her mind lately. What with Scott's obsession with The Avengers and her own personal problems Jean often felt like she needed to escape – but today made her feel different for some reason. There was something about feeling warm sunlight on her skin that simply made her feel more at peace, more content.
Briefly, Jean closed her eyes, her hand wavering over her bag as she opened it up and reached inside. She was five minutes early and Scott was always on time. She hoped that he could get whatever was irritating him out of his system, though deep down she knew he was the reason for much of his anxiety.
