Robin nodded. It made sense, and really, he had already figured that that was more or less what the note had to be about. This reminded him of how he should have had a better means for contacting him in place, but then again, he realized just as quickly that that wouldn't really matter now. At least in the same way.
"I have been meaning to contact you", he said, as he took her hand. "But let's not talk here."
Leading her, as he had on occasion in the past, he moved from roof top to roof top, perfectly in sync with her own movements. He did not stop until they were on the top of an abandoned warehouse, and even then he pushed open a door on the roof to get inside, away from prying eyes. It might have seemed a random act to her, but it was one among many safe areas he had scouted out in the city for circumstances such as these.
"Before you say anything, I just want to say that I'm sorry. I missed your birthday, and I...I really wanted it to be special for you." Though he had been flat in tone before, he did evidence deep regret as he spoke now. "Part of my plans had to do with this", he said, putting a small box into her hands.
